Selena Gomez and the Scene premiered their new video for 'Who Says' on the Disney Channel over the weekend, three days after releasing the single 'On Air with Ryan Seacrest.'
Her first single since officially acknowledging she is dating Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez takes a page out of Bieber's 'Never Say Never' book with this song about self-esteem and being the best you can be no matter what anyone says.
"The message for me personally is that ... I feel that girls my age tend to question themselves a lot," Gomez told EOnline about the song's meaning. "They tend to dress and be what other people want them to be. I feel that everyone wants to follow the trends and what's 'cool' and eventually, at the end of the day when you strip all of that down, are you really proud of yourself and comfortable in your skin?"
True to her words, this Chris Applebaum-directed video opens with the 18-year-old singer at a high-fashion shoot, before she sheds her fancy digs for some casual clothes. The video follows her singing through the streets until she reaches the beach where she's surrounded by her fans. Even the other members of the Scene get a few seconds of face time.
"I've always tried to make my fans feel like I'm just like them, because I am," Selena Gomez told Ryan Seacrest when the song was premiered. "I'm going through everything they're going through, that's why I love this song."
Selena Gomez and the Scene's yet-to-be-named third studio album is slated to hit store shelves on June 28.
