Selena Gomez on London and her Band, The Scene !!

Having made her mark in acting from the tender age of six, Selena Gomez has turned her hand to pop domination.
Since forming Selena Gomez & The Scene last year, the 18-year-old Disney star, who also supports Disney's environmental initiative Friends For Change: Project Green, has followed up her debut album Kiss & Tell with a second release, A Year Without Rain.
She reveals all about her musical inspirations, her favourite UK artists and her musical plans for the future.
You performed with rising stars Allstar Weekend recently in London, what are they like?
They are the best, greatest guys, they are fun to hang out with. I have a close bond with them. They opened for my very first concert ever. It was a big deal for us to go on stage together in front of thousands of people 18 months ago. They hold a very special place in my heart because we were there together and we experienced it. Ever since then I always try to get them to open up for me.
What do you like about the London scene?
Obviously I love the fashion and I'm obsessed with the music. I love Pixie Lott, Cheryl Cole and Girls Aloud.
What kind of feedback have your UK fans given you?
I never realised until I came overseas and witnessed it, I was just hoping people showed up! I was amazed at how many people came out. I love meeting the UK fans and keeping in touch on the internet.
Do you see the singing and acting continuing in tandem?
For the time being, yes. I'd like to go one step at a time instead of doing everything at once. That's what I hope happens. I really can't believe I get to do all of this. It's so hard to do one thing like this by itself.
What's on your iPod?
I have everything, from classical to country music, indie, R&B, pop, hip hop, a real selection.
How many songs are on your album?
There are 11 songs on the new album and on the deluxe edition, there are two additional remixes and special behind the scenes features as well.

How do you choose the songs for your album?
Choosing the songs for the album is definitely a collaborative process and it's a hard job to choose from the ones that I recorded. But the ones that are on the album I am truly passionate about and can't wait for everyone to hear. They're really fun and go well with each other.
How did you meet your band?
We auditioned a bunch of people so I have been with them for almost two years now. They're great guys and I really enjoy being around them.
What about the song Rock God on your album? Was it written by Katy Perry?
Katy Perry gave me a track for the record. It's number three on the album and so much fun. I wanted to take her sound and my sound and make an awesome song. It's one of my favourites on the album.
Do you enjoy promoting your new album?
I love promoting the record because I can tour around and tell people about my music. I get to travel around and meet my fans. Being able to do that is just any musician's dream.
What are you most proud of?
I am definitely most proud of this second album and from an acting perspective; I am so proud that the show has won two Emmys. I just feel really blessed.
Who inspires you in the music world?
People that inspire me in the music world are Katy Perry and Cheryl Cole.
What do you prefer - music or acting?
Sometimes I wake up and I love music and other days I wake up and I love movies and acting. At the moment, I don't really know but when I get older, I am probably just going to stick to acting.
Fancy interviewing one of Selena's co-stars? Wizards of Waverly Place's Gregg Sulkin will be talking to fans as part of an exclusive web chat event to celebrate the new season of the show, which premieres on Monday 25th April at 4.50pm on Disney Channel
Proud to be a Selenator
Love and Peace Always
